JILL L. (BERGER) VELT was born in Newton, Massachusetts on July 14, 1976. She was admitted to the Virginia bar and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in 2001 and U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia in 2003.

Jill Velt graduated from Brandeis University (B.A.,cum laude) in 1998 and from the Washington University School of Law (J.D.) in 2001. She was a member of the Washington University Journal of Law and Policy from 1999-2000 and served as Senior Editor from 2000-2001.

Jill Velt is a member of American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Virginia State Bar. She is proficient in Spanish.
